As Executive Vice President & General Manager, co-founder Bill Bishop is responsible for MarketWatch.com's domestic and global business strategy and development. He has forged most of the company's major strategic relationships, including those with Yahoo and AOL, while playing a key role in the development of the FTMarketWatch.com European joint venture with the Financial Times.
Bill joined Data Broadcasting Corporation in 1995 to focus on business development in the Asia-Pacific Region and served as assistant to DBC's president until being named director of DBC Online in March 1997. One of his first assignments was to create an Internet strategy and business plan, which ultimately became the blueprint for the development of MarketWatch.com, Inc. Bill has also worked for CBS News in China on several occasions, most notably as a translator during CBS' coverage of the 1989 pro-democracy demonstrations in Beijing. Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies from Middlebury College and a Master of Arts degree in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
