Assistant Professor of Economics, Middlebury College

Jon Isham joined the department of economics and the program in environmental studies at Middlebury College in 1999.

He teaches classes in environmental economics, environmental policy, and introductory microeconomics. Jon has co-edited Social Capital, Development, and the Environment with Tom Kelly and Sunder Ramaswamy (Edward Elgar Publications) and is the author of a number of journal articles and book chapters. His research focuses on the institutional determinants of economic and environmental outcomes in the developing world and in Vermont.

Jon holds an A.B. in social anthropology from Harvard College, a M.A. in international studies from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in economics from the University of Maryland.
