creator, CallBack Software and Viapoint

Aaron Abend began his career in Washington, DC, as a policy analyst on transportation and energy policy. From there he move to financial services, where he was handed a printout from one computer and asked to type the information into another one. Instead he offered to get the two computers to communicate with each other, but quickly discovered two things. He lacked the requisite skills, but discovered that developing computer software is a blast.

Aaron took a job on Wall Street working on software for bond traders. In 1982, he discovered that bond salesmen needed a way to track their calls, and developed one of the first customer relationship management systems.

After joining a venture-backed startup in Silicon Valley, where he solidified his technical expertise, Aaron started CallBack Software, which developed and marketed one of the first Customer Relationship Management products.

His launched Viapoint, in April 2002, has his first product in beta testing and hopes to launch it in the second half of 2003.

Aaron graduated from Middlebury in 1977 with a BA in Political Philosophy and a concentration in Economics, and an MBA from Columbia University. Aaron and wife, Shelley, who is President CallBack, have three children, all of whom ski.
