Rory Riggs is a partner in Core Capital Group LLC, a private equity firm focused on healthcare. Previously, Rory was President and Director of Biomatrix, Inc., a NYSE listed biopharmaceutical company, where he oversaw the commercial development of Biomatrix, Inc.'s lead product, Synvisc, including FDA approval, distribution agreements with Wyeth (U.S.), Bayer AG, Novartis AG and Roche Holding Ltd., as well as construction and regulatory approval of a biological manufacturing facility. Synvisc is currently one of the largest products for the treatment of pain related to osteoarthritis sold in the United States.
From 1991 through 1995, Rory was a Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of RF&P Corporation, a company owned by the Virginia Retirement System, which was sold to the real estate arm of Lazard Freres. Prior to that, Mr. Riggs was a Managing Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at PaineWebber Incorporated.
Rory has been actively involved in the start-up or initial development of many healthcare businesses including: Sugen, Selectide, Biomatrix, Inc., Royalty Pharma AG, Cibus Genetics LLC, Patient Choice Healthcare, Inc., ChondroGene, Ltd., Fibrogen, Inc., and The Simpata Group, Inc.
Rory earned his BA from Middlebury College in 1975, and received his MBA from Columbia University.
