Under his direction, the Online & Emerging Technologies department interfaces with all other Sony Music Online-related areas and ventures, and third party relationships as they relate to, and affect, the label's domestic artists online. Mr. Ghuneim coordinates Columbia Records efforts in areas of new technological developments including the broadband initiative, wireless, Video-On-Demand, e-commerce, and electronic music delivery.
Mark has been instrumental in creating and implementing innovative and effective new strategies, promotions, and relationships for Columbia Records in the expanding area of new technology. Under his direction, columbiarecords.com has generated award-winning online sites while maintaining and expanding its reputation as a compelling entertainment destination and quality source of online music information.
His career in the music industry began in 1980 when Mr. Ghuneim worked as a VJ in New York area nightclubs. In 1981, he became Program Director/Production Manager at the nation's premiere video club, Private Eyes, where he spent four years. Mr. Ghuneim's background also includes several on-air promotion spots for MTV and visuals for MTV's "120 Minutes." He has moderated video-related panels at CMJ, New Music Seminar, Billboard Music, Webnoize and other music conferences.
Mr. Ghuneim has guest-lectured at the University of Southern California and continues to guest lecture at the New York University School of Business on marketing developments and techniques. Currently, he works as a mentor with the Center of Communications. "I believe the label will be as important to the 21st century as it was to the 19th and 20th and am very excited to be working with the most talented people in the business as we forge our path into the future."
